With help from Botox, Latisse, and Juvéderm, we are helping women put their best foot forward and helping them feel their best.
There have been significant advances in the industry of skin care that can now be applied to anti-aging skin care. There are now products available using a combination of glycolic acids and antioxidants to promote epidermal growth factor, the production of hyaluronic acid, to stimulate collagen and to protect the skin. Alphahydroxyacids (glycolic acid and ammonium glycolate) have been successfully used to improve skin tone and texture. These are commonly found in popular skin care creams.
Antioxidants are frequently used in skin care products to protect the epidural cells from free radicals found in our environment, that attack and age the skin. Estrogen therapy, such as bioidentical hormone replacement, has also shown to reduce the effects of aging on the skin. Many women notice the skin changes beginning in perimenopause.
Skin has estrogen receptors, as do other tissues in the body, such as the bones. Activation of these receptors contributes to younger looking skin. This is done by maintaining elasticity, hydration, vascularization and skin thickness. For some women, estrogen therapy is not recommended. These women can safely choose the skin care preparation mentioned initially and may choose to augment their results with natural fillers or Botox therapy.
The staff at Conejo Women’s Medical Center can help recommend treatments for optimal care of the skin, and can assist in the prevention and treatment of facial lines and sun damage.
